The Virtual Endurance Championship started in early 2008. It was first called ILMS-ERL, and replaced both VOR´s and CMS' individual endurance series. Later, the league switched to VLMS-ERL (ILMS and VLMS was the name of the mod). It evolved into the Virtual Endurance Championship (VEC), now the largest professional simulation racing series. The VEC (in its previous iterations) was one of the first simulation endurance leagues, and is considered one of the endurance pioneers. The VEC is run by SimRacing.Club, and is supported by the Virtual Le Mans Series (VLMS) and the SimRacing.Club Academy (SRCA). The VEC is an official rFactor 2 series.
